  12. 2 chopped green chillies
  13. 1 tsp kasuri methi
  14. 1 tbsp pure ghee
  15. 2 tsp butter
  16. 1/4 cup Fresh cream for garnishing
  17. 3 tsp coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions to make to make Dal makhani

  1. Take 1 cup of black urad dal and 1/4 cup of rajma in a large bowl.
  2. Add enough water and soak overnight or at least for 8 hours.
  3. Rinse the dal in a running water and transfer into a cooker. add 3 cups of water. And add salt,turmeric powder, and hing.
  4. Close the lid and pressure cook on medium flame for 5 whistles. or till the dals are cooked completely.
  5. In a large kadai add a tbsp of ghee and butter
  6. Then add onion,ginger, garlic and chili paste saute till they change in colour.
  7. Now add tomatoes puree.
  8. Add turmeric, coriander powder, chilli powder and salt to taste. cook the masalas for a minute.
  9. Once the masalas start releasing oil from sides, add cooked dal and give a good stir.
  10. Boil for 30 minutes or more till the dal absorbs flavour and turns thick.
  11. To get the creamy texture, add 2 tbsp of fresh cream.
  12. Now heat ghee into a pan and add Kashmiri red chilli powder and pour tarka upon on ready dal makhani. And add roast kasuri methi also. Give a good mix to get bright colour and flavour.
  13. Finally, serve dal makhani with jeera rice or naan.
